Screens & Souls Week 3: Boundaries Message Summary: Wise Christians go beyond the issue of right/wrong. They think deeply about what is beneficial for their souls and for the souls of those they love. This message attempts to do just that, suggesting wise boundaries to increase screens’ blessings and minimize screens’ curses as we seek the God who saved our souls. ✦ Corinthians 6:13 — “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. ✦ Proverbs 14:8 — The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception. ✦ If souls are at stake, boundaries might be wise. ✦ Proverbs 4:23,26 — Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it…26 Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. ✦ Boundaries — Personal rules that guard you from potential danger. ✦ Boundaries Big Idea: Don’t be legalistic, but we need to be realistic. ✦ Proverbs 16:17 — The highway followed by upright people turns away from evil. The person who guards his way preserves his life. ✦ Boundaries on screens —> blessings for souls ✦ Six Screen Suggestions: 1. Scripture before screens. 2. Track your time. 3. Direction not perfection. 4. Limit your social. 5. Screen-free spaces. 6. Do not disturb. ✦ 2 Corinthians 4:18 — So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. ✦ Hebrews 12:2a — fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
