Jesus Unfiltered Week 6: Jesus Is The Way, The Truth, And The Life Message Summary: When Jesus’ friends were scared and feared that they didn’t know the way to the Father’s house, Jesus spoke the classic words of John 14:6. We do know the way when we know Jesus. He is the way to the Father, the truth of his Word, and the path to eternal life. ✦ Our struggle — Hearts get troubled. ✦ John 13:33,36,37 — “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come…Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.” 37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” ✦ John 14:1 — “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. ✦ John 14:2-4 — “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.” ✦ John 14:5-6 — Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way? 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. ✦ Ἐγώ εἰμι ἡ ὁδὸς καὶ ἡ ἀλήθεια καὶ ἡ ζωή I am the way and the truth and the life. ✦ Jesus’ solution = I am the answer ✦ 1 John 5:13,20 — I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life…20 We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
